KARI ANN FLICKINGER MEMORIAL PRIZE
Ballerini Book Press’s Rare Swan Press imprint unexpectedly found itself to be Kari Ann Flickinger’s final publisher. In our commitment to artistry, as well as to our Rare Swan Press poets and authors, we felt compelled to collaborate with Kari’s partner, and widow, Bill Abney, to create a literary, rather than poetry prize, to celebrate both Kari and literary diversity. To honour Kari’s final collection, Ceiling Fan, we decided to feature poetry as the first literary genre of this inaugural prize. Each alternate year the prize is offered, a different literary genre will be honoured.
A Little Something About Ballerini Book Press
Ballerini Book Press is an independent small press based in Switzerland. Our interests cover a broad and diverse scope of artistic practice. Our commitment includes protection and custodianship of the ‘artistic voice’, regardless of origin. Aside from publishing, we offer authorial and design services, and publishing partnerships. We also occasionally run workshops, seminars and writer retreats. We run Rare Swan Press REVIEW and publish Literati Magazine -(currently on hiatus).
